Ahead of protest march, Hardik detained near Rajkot stadium
Rajkot, Oct 18 (IBNS): Hardik Patel, the 22-year-old leader of Gujarat's Patel community, has been detained 5 kms from the stadium in Rajkot where the third one-day international match between India and South Africa is being held, media reports said on Sunday.
This comes after Hardik Patel had threatened to stage a protest at Rajkot stadium, which is the venue of the third one-day international or ODI match between India and South Africa in the district on Sunday.
Following his threat, mobile internet services have been banned in Rajkot since Saturday night.
Tight security arrangements have also been taken by the administration.
In fact, the Rajkot district administration has almost transformed the city into a fortress to keep the protesters at bay with heavy security cover on the Jamnagar highway approaching Khandheri -eight kilometres from the city - where the Saurashtra SCA Stadium is situated, said reports.
Meanwhile, section 144 is already in force in Rajkot district.
Patel Navnirman Sena (PNS) and Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convener Hardik continued to issue threats, alleging that the BJP government has blocked tickets to keep away Patidars.
