Accident on Padmavati set, 1 dead

Mumbai, Dec 25 (IBNS): In a tragic incident, a painter fell to his death on the set of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming film Padmavati here, media reports said on Sunday.

The mishap reportedly occurred on Saturday.

The deceased person has been identified as Mukesh Dakia.

Police sources told MidDay Mukesh Dakia was painting a tomb on the sets in Film City when the incident took place.

"Mukesh Dakia, a resident of Moracha Pada in Aarey Colony, fell from a height of 5 feet on his back. He sustained severe head injuries," an official from Aarey police station was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.

Dakia was taken to Kokilaben Hospital where he was declared brought dead on arrival.

Police have registered a case into the matter.

Padmavati is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language period drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, jointly produced by Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

The film features Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in leading roles.
