Chandigarh: Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann on Saturday met Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday morning and submitted his claim to form the government in the state.

Talking to the media after staking his claim to form the government, Mann, who arrived at the Raj Bhawan in his personal car, said he met the Governor and handed over a letter of support from AAP legislators and staked claim to form the government.

"The Governor welcomed us and asked us where we would like to have the oath-taking ceremony. We have told him that the ceremony would be held at Khatkar Kalan at 1230 hours on March 16,” he was quoted as saying by UNI.

Mann said Punjab would be run on the principles laid by freedom fighter Bhagat Singh - of public welfare and putting the state first.

He said once Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government assumed office, each party MLA would work for the growth and progress of the state.

The AAP leader invited each Punjabi to the swearing-in function and said it would be a government for the people.

Without giving the details of the cabinet, Mann said the cabinet would be good and it would take historic decisions.
