AAP discusses Somnath Bharti's future in party

New Delhi, Sept 24 (IBNS) The top brass of Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday discussed the future of Somnath Bharti, the disgraced party leader who is wanted by police in connection with an attempt to murder case filed by his wife.

Reports said the meeting took place at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence a day after he tweeted distancing the organisation from Bharti.

The former minister  has been missing since Tuesday, when the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea, saying was "violent and outrageous" at home and in public.

Police, on the lookout for Bharti, an AAP lawmaker, are questioning his family members and friends.

Lipika Mitra, whom  Bharti married in 2010, has accused him of beating and torturing her. She has alleged that he once tried to strangle her and unleashed his dog on her  when she was pregnant.

Embarrassed by the happenings that threatens to sully the party's image, Kejriwal on Wednesday tweeted: "Somnath shud surrender. Why is he running away? Why is he so scared of gng to jail? Now he is becoming embarasment for party n his family."
