A war of 'audio tapes' erupts in Bengal: TMC releases audio clip of BJP leaders Mukul Roy, Sisir Bajoria discussing ways to influence ECI

Kolkata/IBNS: Hours after the BJP had released an audio clip claiming to be of Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee seeking help from its leader for election in Nandigram, the TMC on Saturday evening revealed a counter audio tape which is claimed to be a telephonic conversation between BJP leaders Mukul Roy and Sisir Bajoria discussing ways to influence the Election Commission of India (ECI).

IBNS, however, has not verified the authenticity of both the audio clips independently.

In the TMC-provided 1.53 min-long audio clip of the conversation between Mukul Roy and Sisir Bajoria, it is heard that Roy is asking Bajoria to request the Election Commission to bring change in the polling agent selection policies.

Alleging a nexus between the BJP and ECI, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, "Following BJP's request, the Election Commission amended its polling agent's selection policy."

The BJP claimed that the audio clip released by the TMC was completely fake.
