7 new districts announced by Manipur government

Guwahati, Dec 9 (IBNS): Manipur government has announced seven new revenue districts above the present nine districts in the state.

A top official of Manipur government said that the decision was taken on Thursday late night during a state Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh.

"As per the decision, the state government has make the arrangement of posting DCs and SPs of the new 7 District," the top official said.

The Manipur government has taken a tough decision despite the ongoing economic blockade since November 1 against any decision to upgrade Sadar Hills and Jiribam to district level.

The new districts are,  Tengnoupal, Kakching, Pherjawl (in CCpur ), Kamjong (in Ukhrul), Noney (in Tamenglong), Jiribam (in Imphal East), Kangpokpi (in erstwhile Senapati).
