7 members of a cultural troop killed in Assam road mishap

Guwahati, Apr 24 (IBNS) : At least seven people of a cultural troop were killed and nine others were injured in a road mishap in Assam's Tinsukia district on Friday, police said.

The incident took place at Digboi Ramnagar area in the upper Assam district on the wee hours of Friday.

"The incident happened during a head on collision between a truck and a Tata winger vehicle in which the Bihu cultural troop was traveling. The incident took place on the national high way when the cultural troop was returning after performing a cultural programme at Kakopathar area, " a police official said.

Five persons, including two girls, were killed on spot and two others, who were injured in the mishap, have succumbed to their injuries in a hospital.

The injured persons had rushed to Assam medical college hospital in Dibrugarh for better treatment.
