3, including teenager, injured as car drives into Durga idol immersion procession

Bhopal/IBNS: At least three people, including a teenager, have been injured after a speeding car rammed into a crowd during Durga idol immersion at Bajaria area in the capital city of Madhya Pradesh last night.

The driver was arrested this morning but was later released on bail, the police said today, accoording to NDTV.

"During the investigation, it was found that the accused had stopped to have food near the railway station in Bhopal. While reversing the car, the vehicle hit one of the bystanders. The bystander got violent and smashed the car, as a result of which he reversed the car at high speed to escape from getting hurt," a police source was uoted as saying, according to the report.

A 16-year-old boy got reportedly dragged by the car and is said to be in critical condition.

"The driver has been arrested and charged under relevant sections. The car has also been seized. No traces of alcohol were found in his blood," DIG Bhopal Irshad Wali said, the report added.
