Vijaywada/IBNS: Heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh have led to the death of 17 people while more than 100 others went missing in the state, media reports said.

In Tirupati, hundreds of pilgrims were seen trapped in floods.

The floods have led to the damage of the roads while traffic has been hit.

Rescue operations are in full swing as national and state disaster relief teams have been deployed.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP)'s Andhra Pradesh unit president K Atchannaidu on Saturday alleged that the YSRCP government's negligence and failures was mainly responsible for the huge loss of lives and property in the latest heavy rains and floods in different parts of the state.

Atchannaidu alleged that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy headed regime had shown a lot of interest in using bogus voters in the Kuppam Municipal Election while totally neglecting damage control measures in the heavy rains.
