The Maharashtra politics has plunged into a crisis after the ruling Shiv Sena's leader and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's colleague in the government, Eknath Shinde went missing with a meaty number of MLAs. Shinde, to whom Thackeray had reached out, claims to have around 30-40 MLAs with him hinting at a possible collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

Uddhav Thackeray leaves chief minister's residence amid rebellion

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday left his official residence amid a rebellion by senior cabinet member Eknath Shinde that has put a risk of toppling his government, reports said.

Thackeray has tested positive for Covid-19.

But his shift to the family home, strongly associated with party founder and father Balasaheb Thackeray, was seen as carrying a message.

'Must quit unnatural alliance': Rebel leader Eknath Shinde after Uddhav Thackeray speech

Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde, who has triggered the political crisis in Maharashtra, on Wednesday underlined that it is vital to get out of the "unnatural alliance" with Sharad Pawar's NCP and the Congress for the party's survival.

His remark came shortly after the alliance partners in the Maha Vikas Aghadi suggested that the Shinde be named the Chief Minister, NDTV quoting sources reported.

In a tweet, Shinde said: "In the last 2.5 years, Shiv Sena has only suffered and other parties have benefited. Where other parties have gotten stronger, the Sena has only weakened."

Meeting between Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar ends

The highly anticipated meeting between Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, and Supriya Sule has concluded at the CM's residence in Mumbai.

Following the meeting, Thackeray was seen coming out of his residence to greet his supporters.

Rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde with 40 MLAs reach Assam

Rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde along with other party MLAs arrived in Guwahati in BJP-ruled Assam early this morning.

They were received by BJP leaders Sushanta Borgohain and Pallab Lochan Das.

Speaking to reporters at the Guwahati airport, Eknath Shinde claimed he has support of 40 Shiv Sena MLAs and six Independents, and they will carry forward Balasaheb Thackeray's ideology.
