Assembly poll results in Maharashtra and Haryana: All Updates

The counting of votes for the Assembly polls held in Maharashtra and Haryana are taking place today. For the first time since the conclusion of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Opposition are face-off in an electoral battle. Polling took place on Monday. While the BJP is eyeing an easy return to power, the Opposition, mainly the Congress is trying to make a comeback particularly after its devastating Lok Sabha poll results.

PM Modi thanks people of Haryana, Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, I thank the people of Haryana for blessing us. We will continue to work with the same zeal and dedication for the state’s progress. I laud the efforts of hardworking @BJP4Haryana Karyakartas who toiled extensively and went among the people to elaborate on our development agenda."

He tweeted, "People of Maharashtra have blessed the NDA with immense affection. We are humbled to have got the people’s support yet again. Our work towards Maharashtra’s progress continues! I salute each and every Karyakarta of the BJP, Shiv Sena and our entire NDA family for their hardwork."

Addressing a press conference, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "People have given a decisive mandate. We fought in lesser number of seats. Above all we lost some seats but the Opposition also could not increase its tally much."

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said, "The Maharashtra Chief Minister will be chosen as per the pre-determined formula. We will sit with the BJP for that."

After the trends of Haryana poll results indicated a hung assembly, state Congress chief Bhupinder Singh Hooda urged all the non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parties to unite and form the next government.

"I urge all the non-BJP parties to come together and form the next state government," Hooda said.
