Paul Beatty wins Man Booker Prize for The Sellout

London, Oct 26 (IBNS): US author Paul Beatty has won the prestigious Man Booker Prize for his novel The Sellout.

In the 48-years history of the prize, the Beatty became the first US author to win it.

The shortlist for the 2016 probables for the award included  two British, two US, one Canadian and one British-Canadian writer.

"The Sellout is published by small independent publisher Oneworld, who had their first win in 2015 with Marlon James’ A Brief History of Seven Killings," read the official website of the award.

"'It's really grand that what's important to me is also important to others," Man Booker Prize tweeted quoting the author after he received the award.
