Speaking on the occasion, Rabiranjan Chattopadhayay, MIC, Government of West Bengal said: “On the very first note I would like to congratulate the founder of Gudiya Nritya Bhartai, Prof.Mahua Mukherjee, for reviving such a traditional and one of the only two dance forms of Bengal. It is a honour for me to be a part of such an dance event.”

The two -day dance concert screened documentary films on Mahua Mukherjee, founder of Gaudiya Nritya Bharati and her works which are produced by the Government of India, Films Division.

The concert witnessed a series of scintillating performances of the members of Gaudiya Nritya Bharati including few Odishi, Kathakali recitals by eminent dancers.

The concert concluded with the performance of Sri Lankan dancer Buddhi Edirisihghe’s Kandyan recital along with ‘A Journey to Knowledge and Peace’, conceived and directed by Mahua Mukherjee, based on ‘Buddha Charit’ of Ashwa Ghosh.
