Jammu and Kashmir: CUK's Central Library starts SMS alert service

Srinagar: Central Library of the Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Friday started SMS alert service for the library users in all the campuses of the varsity here.

According to a statement, the service was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mehrajud Din Mir, in the presence of Prof. M AfzalZargar, Registrar, Prof. ParveenPandit, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Dean, School of Legal Studies, Dr. Mehrajud Din, Dean, Students Welfare, Dr. Abdul Majid Baba, Dr. Tariq Ahmad Shah, Humma, Assistant Librarians and Imtiyaz Ahmad Najar, Information Scientist.

The newly launched service would enable the users to get instant details about the books issued.

“The service will keep the library users abreast about the library transactions. When a book is issued to a library user, he/she will receive an SMS on registered mobile phones intimating about the transaction in his/her library account which will also include information about the due date of the book issued”, Dr. Tariq Ahmad Shah said.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mehrajud Din Mir hailed the Central Library staff for the novel initiative saying that this would bring in more transparency in the library transactions and the students would get duly benefited from it.

Registrar Prof. M AfzalZargar congratulated the library staffers for launching the service and assured full support and cooperation to them in future endeavours.
