Taj Taal Kutir, Kolkata, renowned for its seamless blend of colonial charm and contemporary elegance, invites guests to experience an extraordinary gastronomic journey with ‘The Himalayan Trail’, an exclusive culinary showcase at The Verandah, the hotel’s all-day diner, from 17 July to 2 August 2026.

Inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Nepal, Uttarakhand, Tibet, and Bhutan, the festival presents an authentic and thoughtfully curated à la carte menu celebrating the diverse gastronomic heritage of the Himalayan region.

Rooted in the philosophy of ‘Mountain to Plate’, the festival pays tribute to the resilience, ingenuity, and sustainable culinary practices of Himalayan communities. The showcase highlights age-old techniques such as foraging, fermentation, and preservation, while bringing indigenous ingredients like Jakhiya, Timur, Shamu, Mandua, Dalle chilli, and Ema to the forefront — each adding distinctive flavours, textures, and depth to the dining experience.

Curated meticulously by the hotel’s culinary team, The Himalayan Trail brings together traditional recipes and authentic regional ingredients, offering guests a rare opportunity to explore the vibrant flavours of the Himalayan belt. Each dish has been crafted to retain the essence of its origin while reflecting the culinary finesse and hospitality synonymous with Taj.

The menu features an array of signature delicacies, including Nepali Jhol Momo, Datshi, Tibetan Thukpa, Rajma NH 7, Bhaang Ki Chutney, and Jasha Maru. Each creation reflects the unique culinary identity of its region, transporting diners to the mountains through authentic flavours and time-honoured recipes.

Speaking about the festival, Siddharth Jain, General Manager, Taj Taal Kutir, Kolkata, said, “At Taj Taal Kutir, Kolkata, we are committed to creating immersive culinary experiences that celebrate the richness and diversity of regional cuisines. ‘The Himalayan Trail’ is a tribute to the enduring traditions of Himalayan communities, offering our guests an opportunity to experience authentic flavours, unique ingredients, and age-old cooking techniques that define this remarkable region, right here in Kolkata.”
