Kolkata/IBNS: Debutante author Soma Bose, who is also a visual storyteller, has come out with a book exploring the subtle and intricate emotions of women's lives.

Soma, who has an affinity for storytelling, finds stories behind the most mundane aspects of life and her book 'Frenny And Other Women You Have Met' is inspired by that.

Besides her website SomTales.com, where she weaves thought-provoking tales around photographs,  she has extended her flair for storytelling into the world of films as well. She has written scripts that have been appreciated by acclaimed filmmakers like Shyam Benegal and Shonali Bose.

Soma Bose said her first book explores many emotions, hoping that her readers appreciate women’s lives and contributions in all their richly varied forms. "The motivation to write such human-centric stories comes from my experience of growing up in the coal-mining town of Dhanbad in Jharkhand," she said.

The book was launched at a programme at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi recently. Eminent actors Mita Vasisht and Swastika Mukherjee unveiled the book at the programme attended among others.

The Delhi launch was followed by a book reading and conversation session between the writer and filmmaker Sudeshna Roy at Chapter Two café in Kolkata recently.

Bose said, "It's really an overwhelming experience getting so much appreciation and love from readers, well-wishers, even noted personalities from our society. It motivates to deal with more of such initiatives in future."
