Chrome 149 rolls out — Google patches 429 security issues in major update
Tech giant Google has announced the rollout of Chrome 149, addressing 429 security vulnerabilities in what marks a significant step toward enhancing the browser's security.
In a blog post, Google said its Chrome team is "delighted" to announce the promotion of Chrome 149 to the stable channel for Windows, Mac, and Linux users.
"This will roll out over the coming days/weeks," the company said.
According to Google, Chrome 149.0.7827.53 for Linux and Chrome 149.0.7827.53/54 for Windows and Mac include a number of security fixes and performance improvements.
The company added that details of certain vulnerabilities may remain restricted until the majority of users have updated their browsers with the latest fixes.
"We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third-party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven't yet fixed," Google said.
The update underscores Google's ongoing efforts to strengthen browser security and protect users against emerging cyber threats.
