Turkey mine mishap: Death toll at 274

Istanbul, May 15 (IBNS): Death toll in the a blast and resultant fire at a Turkish mine on Tuesday has touched 274 on Thursday, media reports said.

Protesting against the mishap, country's trade unions have announced a one-day strike.

"Trade unions in Turkey have announced a one-day strike in protest at the country's worst ever mine disaster which has claimed at least 274 lives," BBC reported.

Meanwhile,  three days of mourning for the victims commenced from Thursday.

Rescuers are still carrying out searches to find out the missing miners.

Anti-government protests occurred in several cities across the country following the mishap.
