Aditya Dhar speaks out after Dhurandhar 2 show cancellations – Here’s what went wrong
Filmmaker Aditya Dhar has addressed audiences amid confusion over Dhurandhar 2 screenings, confirming that technical issues have led to delays and cancellations for non-Hindi versions of the film.
Taking to X, Dhar stated, “Dhurandhar is not just a film for us – it is something we have lived with, nurtured, and dreamed of sharing with each and every one of you, together, at the same moment, in every language.”
He added that most Hindi shows across India are running as scheduled from 5 pm, while Tamil and Telugu shows will commence from 9 pm. Malayalam and Kannada screenings, however, will begin tomorrow morning due to unforeseen technical difficulties.

In the Delhi NCR, all IMAX bookings have been taken offline, and cinema chains including Miraj, Movietime, Wave, Cinepolis, and select INOX venues have reportedly cancelled early evening shows. Smaller PVR multiplexes are also affected.
Elvin Marcus, manager of MovieMax Laserplex, Noida, told NDTV that last-minute edits suggested by the Censor Board of India caused the delay in 5 pm paid previews, which are now expected to start around 6 pm.
In Mumbai, shows at Gaiety Galaxy in Bandra have been cancelled, leaving large crowds waiting. Theatre staff advised audiences to opt for 9 pm screenings.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala explained that the dubbed versions for Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada were not ready due to pending last-minute sound and visual edits, while the Hindi version was available for immediate release.
Exhibitors in Chennai confirmed they did not receive the Tamil version in time, prompting last-minute cancellations and apologies to viewers.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2 stars Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, and is releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
