Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: With one more person who tested positive for the Zika virus, the total number of affected cases rose to 38 in Kerala, Health Minister Veena George said on Tuesday.

A 49-year-old woman from Uchakkada in Thiruvananthapuram district was identified with a virus infection.

Out of the 38 cases, 30 people tested negative to this day, and the rest of them are under medical observation.

Earlier, for the first time in Kerala, a 24-year-old pregnant woman tested positive for the Zika virus.

Later, she recovered within six days and gave birth to a healthy baby at a private hospital here.

Zika virus disease is a new occurrence in the state now grappling with the Covid pandemic.
