Wokha DC issues advisory on wild bear in Nagaland

Kohima/UNI: The Deputy Commissioner of Wokha district has issued a Public Advisory about a sloth bear sighting at Government High School colony in Wokha town on October 18.

Official sources said in a notice the Deputy Commissioner has urged the public of Wokha town in general, the Government High school and surrounding colonies in particular, to take precautionary measures and avoid human movement in nearby jungles and fields, especially at night.

Further, parents have been advised to restrict children from playing in isolated areas. It also asked the public to keep their surroundings well lit.

A wildlife team from Dimapur and the Forest Department of Wokha is on the job to track and rescue the animal, it was informed.

The notice asked the public of Wokha town to lend support to the concerned authority to rescue the wild animal for public safety.
