West Bengal: Statewide Containment Zone lockdown extended till July 31

Kolkata/UNI: The West Bengal Government on Sunday extended Statewide Containment Zone lockdown till July 31.

The State Government sent an advisory to the District Magistrates, Director General of Police and Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, in this regard this evening.

"DMs may take a view on continuing lockdown: town-wide or zone-wise depending on the local situation," the order said.

"They can do it for 5-7 days. State-wide containment zone-based lockdown continues till 31 July," it added.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar said, "PANDEMIC COVID-19 challenge is on rise. As figures of Covid-19 +ve and Deaths @MamataOfficial rise I appeal CALM and URGE to give 100% in observing:- •SOCIAL DISTANCING •WEARING MASK •REGULAR HAND WASH TIME TO HAND HOLD NEEDY."

" No scope for complacency at any level," the Governor noted.
