Kolkata, Sep 8 (IBNS): Sri Sathya Sai Hospital, part of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Trust, and Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations in West Bengal will conduct a free of cost medical camp on September 30, 2018 at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra Indoor Stadium, Kolkata.

The announcement was made by Kalyan Rai, trustee of the West Bengal Sathya Sai Organisation, Manoj Bhimani, trustee of the all India Sathya Sai organization and Goutam Ghosh, convener of the soon to be organized medical camp.

The camp will be conducted to deal with the various cardiac problems faced by the people; both pediatric and senior cases will be dealt with.

After a primary check-up at the camp, patients will be given dates for surgery if required. The surgeries will be held in Rajkot and Ahmedabad.

Patients with annual income of less than Rs 20,000 will be offered free of cost surgeries.

The first surgery will be held at Ahmedabad on October 10, which is also the first day of Navratri.

In every district of West Bengal, a helpline number is given where anyone can inquire about the camp.

Manoj Bhimani said, “Our objective is that people who cannot afford private healthcare shouldn’t be given any less preference. We at Sai institutions do not believe in charging money for health care, none of our hospitals have a billing department.  We conduct these camps every year all across India.”

Last year 550 patients showed up at the camp and 120 of them underwent operations in Rajkot.

The travelling and medicine cost is borne by the family, rest the hospital gives including accommodation for the patient and one member of the family.

Gautam Ghosh said, “At least 20 among 100 adults over 30 years in urban Bengal experience fatal or non-fatal heart attacks, strokes or other serious cardiovascular events, according to a large public health research carried out recently. This statistics alarmed us so we wanted to do something about it, hence the idea of the camp.”

This is the second such medical camp in Kolkata.

The registration for the camp has to be completed by September 24 and the camp is on September 30 from 9am.
