New Delhi/UNI: The Union Health Ministry on Thursday said that 89,31,505 Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories.

More than 28 lakh doses will be received in addition by them within the next 3 days.

According to the Ministry's statement, the Centre has so far provided 17,15,42,410 free vaccine doses to the states. Of this, the total consumption, including wastages, is 16,26,10,905 doses.

States with a negative balance are showing more consumption, including wastage, than vaccines supplied as they have not reconciled the vaccine they have supplied to Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of vaccine doses administered in the country so far stands at 16,24,30,828, the Ministry said.

A total of 2,30,305 beneficiaries in the 18-44 age group received the first dose of the vaccine on Wednesday across 12 states and Union territories taking the total number of people in this age group to be inoculated to 9,02,731, it added.
