Barasat, Aug 5 (IBNS): Narayana Multispeciality Hospital in Barasat has set up the first Catherization Laboratory (Cath Lab) in North 24 Parganas.

The Cath Lab equips the hospital to diagnose, treat and perform procedures on patients with heart conditions, both for adults and children.

"People in the region of Nadia, Behrampore, North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly and North Kolkata will be largely benefited from this facility," read an official statement.

Commenting on the launch of the Cath lab, Deepak Venugopalan, Zonal Director – East, Narayana Health, said, “We have been studying the medical requirements of this region closely since the time we acquired this hospital from Jubilant Group. We see a huge pool of patients in this region travelling to Kolkata and other parts of the country to get quality treatment for heart ailments. Also, when there are cardiac emergencies, the golden hour is very important in reaching the patient to a good cardiac care centre within a specific time period.  Therefore, by introducing this Cath lab facility, we aim to address requirements of a large pool of patients in this part of West Bengal.”

He said, “We are looking at reinforcing our network in Eastern India and therefore our commitment to West Bengal by bringing high-class super-speciality healthcare services within the reach of the common man.”
