Maharashtra records 81 pct rise in Covid infections in single day, Mumbai cases almost double

Mumbai/IBNS: Maharashtra on Tuesday recorded 1,881 new coronavirus cases, which is 81 per cent more than the previous day and the highest since Feb 18, the state health department said.

The state also reported one case of B.A.5 variant.

Mumbai alone accounted for 1,242 new cases, almost double than Monday's count.

No new pandemic-related death was reported in the last 24 hours.

On Monday, the state had recorded 1,036 infections while Mumbai had reported 676 cases.

With Tuesday's cases, there are 8,432 active cases in Maharashtra now.
