Magnitude 5.2 earthquake hits Gujarat, no casualty reported

Gandhinagar/UNI: A tremor of 5.2 intensity on the Richter scale today jolted parts of Gujarat, however, no casualty has been reported.

According to the official information, the tremor felt at 2013 hrs tonight had its epicentre at 8 km north northeast from Bhachau in Kutch district of Gujarat, a seismically sensitive zone which had in 2001 seen a devastating quake which had caused large scale loss of life and property.

The tremor was felt across the state including Rajkot, Ahmedabad and at several places, people ran out in open after feeling the tremor.

Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said that so far no casualty or major damage to property has been reported.
