Kolkata witness biggest 'supermoon' in last 68 years

Kolkata, Nov 14 (IBNS): The people, living in Kolkata, witnessed a glimpse of the 'supermoon' on Monday evening.

The moon made its closest approach towards the earth since 1948.

According to NASA, the November Supermoon is providing an extraordinary sight for skywatchers as it's extra close to Earth on Monday.

During the November Supermoon, distance between Earth and its only permanent natural satellite Moon was 3,56,508 km. while on average, the Moon orbits approximately 3,84,400 km. from the Earth.

The NASA said that the Moon would not come this close to Earth until Nov 25, 2034.
