Kerala reports 21,119 new COVID cases, 18,493 recoveries

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Kerala reported 21,119 fresh cases of COVID-19 while 18,493 patients recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Tuesday.

In a statement here this evening, the CM said: "Total 1,32,769 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) is 15.91 per cent. A total of 2,87,45,545 samples have been sent for testing till this day."

Meanwhile, 152 recent deaths were confirmed on Tuesday owing to Covid, taking the death toll in the state to 18,004.

Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at 266 wards under 52 Local Self Governments (LSGs) where strict restriction is being imposed.

In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK.

So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
