Kashmir: ‘Everybody should go for vaccination’
Srinagar/IBNS: The Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Srinagar today organized a webinar on ‘Covid appropriate behaviour and addressing vaccination misconceptions, a special focus on Persons with Disabilities’ here.
On the occasion, the presidential address was given by Smita Jayavant, Director of Pt. Deendayal Upadhaya National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities, New Delhi.
In her address, Jayavant said that there are misconceptions about the vaccination against Covid-19 and advised the participants that everybody should go for vaccination.
She appreciated the Director Composite Regional Centre and its team for organizing this type of webinar adding it is the need of the hour.
Dr Mir Zafar Iqbal, Director Composite Regional Centre, Srinagar presented the inaugural address. He said that the webinar was organised to raise awareness about the importance of the vaccination process across the division so that each and every individual gets himself inoculated against the deadly pandemic.
He also said that people should follow the guidelines of the World Health Organization from time to time.
At the outset, the inaugural session was started with the welcome address by Shameem Ahmed Rehabilitation Officer of Composite Regional Centre, Srinagar followed by Introduction to the webinar and its objective by Arifa Amin Nodal Officer Covid-19 for Composite Regional Centre, Srinagar J&K.
Later, a technical session was started by Guest Speaker Dr Ashiq Rashid Mir MBBS, MD Community Medicine HRF, National Institute of Epidemiology, Surveillance Medical Officer Kashmir and Ladakh UT.
Dr Ashiq stressed the importance of covid appropriate behaviour including wearing appropriate masks, hand wash and use of Hand Sanitizers, maintaining social distance and avoiding crowded areas.
He stressed how important it is to get vaccinated for the general public of all age groups especially persons with disabilities. Persons with disabilities are vulnerable to get infected with the novel coronavirus and complicate their health issues.
He shared data and evidence supporting the efficacy of vaccination in avoiding deaths, hospitalization, the requirement of ventilator support and medical oxygen for patients with covid-19 infections and how it helps to avoid serious illness among the affected population.
He encouraged mobilizing more and more people for vaccination, avail facility of NHM J&K Control room services for testing, consultation and reporting warning signs to experts and medical officers available at such service centres at various District levels.
The session was concluded with deliberations on how myths and misconceptions are a hassle for people getting themselves vaccinated and cleared that it is safe to avail vaccination for containment of novel CoronaVirus.
The webinar was attended by various non-governmental organizations, persons with disabilities, staff, professionals and students of Composite Regional centre Srinagar.
