Jammu and Kashmir: Workshop on mental health and substance abuse held in Tangmarg

Srinagar: A day-long workshop on mental health and substance abuse was held at DhobiwanTangmarg as capacity building programme for MLHP doctors and medical officers working across Kashmir division.

A statement issued here said that the programme was organised by DMHP unit Bandipora and was presided by Deputy Director (Schemes) Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, Dr Abdul Rashid besides Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Dr B A Khan, Medical Superintendent District Hospital BandiporaDr Bashir Ahmad and Divisional Nodal Officer Mental Health DHSK DrImtiyaz Mansur.

The statement said that the participants were taught common mental illness and emphasis was laid on substance abuse and the doctors were oriented to new developments.

It said HOD Psychiatry GMC Srinagar DrMaqbool and DrMansoor from GMC Anantnag were the guest speakers on the occasion.

The statement said that the workshop was part of National Mental Health Programme and NashaMukt Bharat flagship programmes. It said that certificates and mementos were distributed among the speakers and participants.
