Jammu and Kashmir: GMC reports first case of Black Fungus

Jammu/UNI: The first case of Black Fungus was reported on Friday in Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu.

Hospital sources here said that the first case of Black Fungus has been diagnosed in Covid -19 patient admitted in GMC Jammu.

Steroids and high sugar level is believed to be the reason for Black Fungus.

The patient has turned negative for Covid-19, though critical.

"Yes, the first case of Black Fungus was reported in the hospital due to uncontrolled sugar level in 40- year-old man," Dr Shashi Sudan Sharma, Principal, GMC Jammu confirmed to UNI.

Meanwhile, an official said that Black Fungus does not spread from person to person like Covid-19.
