India reports 9,765 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

New Delhi/IBNS: India reported 9,765 COVID-19 cases while the toll went up by 477 in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry stated on Wednesday.

In the same span of time, 8,548 COVID-19 patients have recovered.

The recovery percentage now stands at 98.35%.

The active cases are now 0.29%, the lowest since Mar 2020.

Under the countrywide vaccination drive, 124.96 crore anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses have so far been administered.

Four travellers from London (the United Kingdom) and Amsterdam (Netherlands) were admitted to the Lok Nayak Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Tuesday night, sources said.

The passengers are suspected of being infected with the new Covid-19 variant Omicron, sources said here on Wednesday.

In view of Omicron, the central government is likely to postpone the resumption of international flights scheduled for Dec 15.
