India reports 33,750 COVID-19 cases, 123 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi/IBNS: India added 33,750 new COVID-19 cases while the toll went up by 123 in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.

In the same span of time, 10,846 COVID-19 patients have recovered.

The recovery percentage now touches 98.20% while the active cases now constitute 0.42% of the total cases.

Meanwhile, the tally of new COVID-19 variant 'Omicron' has touched 1,700 with the majority of them being reported from Maharashtra (510), Delhi (351), Kerala (156), Gujarat (136), Tamil Nadu (121) and Rajasthan (120).

Vaccination against COVID-19 for teens aged between 15 to 18 will start from Monday.

Registration on Co-WIN website began on Saturday for booking jab schedule for children.

The onsite registration for children will commence from the first day of vaccination on Jan 3.

According to the Centre's guidelines, apart from government ID cards, children can also book slots for vaccination on the Co-WIN using their ID cards from Jan 1.

Children can also register themselves using their parents’ existing Co-WIN accounts or after creating a new account through a unique mobile number.

The Union Health Ministry had earlier said that "children born in 2007 and earlier shall be eligible to receive the vaccine".
