India records more recoveries than active cases for the first time since the outbreak of Covid-19

New Delhi/IBNS: For the first time since Covid-19 outbreak in India, the number of patients recovered from the disease have exceeded the active cases even as the country's tally soared to 2,76,583 with 9,985 new infections.

This is the eighth consecutive day that India has recorded over 9,000 cases in a single day.

The Union Health Ministry said 1,35,206 patients have been cured of the novel coronavirus infection so far and nearly 1.33 lakh people are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals across the country.

A total of 279 patients succumbed to the illness in the last 24 hours while 7,745 patients have died since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

India has tested nearly 5 million people for Covid-19 and it now stands fifth among the nations in terms of total number of infections after the United States, Brazil, Russia and the United Kingdom.
