IGNOU celebrates International Yoga Day

New Delhi, June 21 (IBNS) Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June,2016 at Convention Centre, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi.

The program was  coordinated by Narayan Prasad with the support of  the Committee constituted by Vice Chancellor for this purpose. Prof. Prasad in his lecture on the Yoga: Philosophy and its various applications explained the concept, Philosophy, the dimensions and various Applications of Yoga.


 The children of the IGNOU campus illustrated the various postures of Yoga under the guidance of Ms. Nirmala, Yoga Teacher.


Yogacharya Shri Sudhir Kumar Jain, Chief Guest in his speech focused on Yoga Practice in Daily Life and demonstrated various Asanas which can be practiced to relieve stress, anxiety, anger, long sitting problems, diabetes, frozen shoulder, backache and spondylitis etc.


The program was presided over by Prof. Ravindra Kumar, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, New Delhi. In his speech, Honble Vice Chancellor Prof. Ravindra Kumar highlighted the importance of Yoga in day to day living and shared his personal experiences about the benefits from the Practice of Yoga.


The teachers,academics,officers and the entire staff of the University participated in the function.

The programme was webcasted across the 67 IGNOU Regional Centres all over the country.
