HEALYNC hosts cancer treatment and prevention workshop

Kolkata, Mar 31 (IBNS):  The HEALYNC Solution LLP on Friday hosted cancer treatment and prevention workshop in the city.

The session traced discussions on disease Cancer with speakers like Dr. Colin Phipps Diong, Consultant Haematology, Parkway Hospitals, Singapore, Dr. Zee Ying Kiat, Senior Consultant - Medical Oncology, Parkway Hospitals, Singapore and Dr. A/Pro Mark Wong, Senior Consultant - Robotic, Colorectal and General Surgery, Parkway Hospitals, Singapore.

Dr. Zee Ying Kiat explained that the important avenues to keep in mind to avoid cancer are- avoiding Tobacco, limiting alcohol consumption, maintaining a diet that are low on saturated fats, being physically active; maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding excessive sunlight, protection against sexually transmitted infections and regular screening for breast, colorectal and cervical cancer.

He also said that though maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important, many times the cause of occurrence of the cancer cannot be traced back.

Dr. Wong said, "Colorectal Cancer is one of the most common cancers in India amongst most men and women. We want to raise awareness on this topic- its prevention and treatment."

The session covered an array of topics of general lifestyle as well, including combating constipation (Identifying it and treating it), Functional Constipation (what it is and how it can be treated at an early stage), Ventral Mesh Rectopexy (the entire process of the treatment), Colorectal Cancer (the ideal diet and lifestyle to avoid it) and Piles (knowledge on how to eat right and remedy the disease).
