Gujarat: Asiatic lion dies after falling in farm well near Gir forests

Junagadh, Aug 10 (UNI) A young Asitatic lion died, after falling in a well near East Gir forests in Kantala village under Khambha taluka of Amreli district, Chief Conservator of Forest D T Vasavada on Saturday said.

He said that an around 4 to 5 year old lion fell in the well of a farmer Bhurabhai Bhua yesterday.

The wall was having parapet around it.

The body of the lion has been sent for post mortem. Prima facie the reason behind the death seems to be drowning/hemorrhage. The forest staff have scanned the surrounding area and nothing suspicious has been found.
