The Centre has declared "Delta Plus" as a variant of concern.

So far, two people from Ujjain and three from Bhopal have been detected with the strain.

A 59-year-old woman, who tested positive for coronavirus on May 17 and died on May 23, was infected with Delta plus variant, Ujjain collector Ashish Singh, according to a report in the media.

Another woman aged 65 years, who had received both doses of Covid 19 vaccine, was found to be infected with Delta plus variant after a test in National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). She recovered from the infection in home isolation.

Officials said that four people, who infected wth the variant, were vaccinated with both the doses and recovered from the illness, according to the media report. However, the woman who succumbed was not inoculated, it added.
