Ranchi, May 3 (UNI): Several areas of Jharkhand have received rainfall due to the cyclonic storm Fani, providing much-needed relief from the hot weather to the people of the state.

The state disaster management department has set up a 24-hour control room to keep an eye on the situation. The emergency number 0651-2446923 of the control room will also remain functional.

An official state government release said the home and disaster management department had written to all district commissioners to set up local control rooms.

The release said wind speed reaching 40-60 kmph will be blowing over the state along with heavy rainfall and lightning.

Jharkhand will also be partially impacted by this cyclone, the statement said, adding that all necessary instructions have been issued to maintain security and ensure no loss of life is caused by the cyclone.

A report from Palamu said that a young woman had lost her life due to the cyclone Fani in Sajwan village of Haidernagar block when the roof of a house fell on her.

The deceased has been identified as Savita Kumari (18).

She was coming down the stairs when strong winds detached a portion of the roof, and it fell on her, injuring her seriously. Doctors declared her brought dead when she was taken to the local hospital.
