Elephant tramples man to death in West Bengal

Kolkata, Nov 24 (IBNS): In a tragic incident, an elephant  trampled a man to death in Lataguri forest area of West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district, media reports said on Friday.

The deceased person was identified as Sadik Rahman.

he reportedly worked as a security guard.

The elephant had brought the traffic to halt as it was crossing the National Highway 31.

The incident occurred when the man stepped out of his car to take a photograph with the animal.

The elephant reportedly attacked the man and disappeared from the spot after 15 minutes.

The man died of his injuries.

"Elephants are common in this area; they cross this highway almost every day and the custom is no one steps out of their vehicle. Sadik dared to confront the elephant and got killed," a forest official told NDTV.
