COVID: Kerala records 19,622 more cases, 132 deaths

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Showing no respite from rising number of COVID cases and deaths, Kerala on Monday reported fresh 19,622 positive cases and 132 deaths.

About 22,563 people recovered from the disease on Monday, the Health Department said this evening.

The fresh demises took the death toll in the state to 20,673.

About 1,17,216 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) is 16.74 %. A total of 3,13,92,529 samples have been sent for testing till this day.

Currently 5,39,097 people are under observation in the state -- 5,08,271 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 30,826 in hospitals.

On Monday, 2,641 people were admitted to the hospital with virus Infection.

Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 8 at 353 wards under 70 Local Self Governments (LSGs) where strict restriction is being imposed.

In the last 24 hours, COVID was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK.

So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified.
