COVID-19: US death toll touches to 16,672

Washington/UNI: As many as 1904 people have lost their lives to coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 16,672, Johns Hopkins University said on Friday.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States stands now at 465,750, with about 26,000 people recovered.

On Thursday, the United States registered 1,965 fatalities, which was the worst number since the start of the pandemic, it further said.

The World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on March 11.

To date, more than 1.6 million people have been infected with the coronavirus worldwide, with over 95,000 fatalities,it added.
