COVID-19: Toll in West Bengal rises to 7,294

Kolkata/UNI: The COVID-19 toll in Bengal rose to 7,294 with the death of 59 persons on Sunday, while the tally touched 4,05,314 with 3,920 new confirmed cases.

According to the latest State Government Health bulletin, the active cases accounted for 34,566, while the number of discharged cases stood at 3,63,454.
The percentage of discharged rose to 89.67 per cent.

The bulletin said the total number of samples tested stood at 49,14,741 with 45,187 tested in the past 24 hours.

While the city recorded the highest number of 2323 deaths so far, surrounding districts of North 24 Parganas and Howrah came second and third  respectively with 1683 and 780 fatalities.

South 24 Parganas accounted for 493 deaths, the toll in Hooghly stood at 345, Darjeeling 149, Paschim and Purba Midnapore 223 and 205 respectively, Malda 89, Murshidabad 101, Nadia 179, Paschim Bardhaman 107, Purba Bardhaman 74, Jalpaiguri 96, Uttar Dinajpur 55, Dakshin Dinajpur 54, Birbhum 60, Alipurduar 78, Kalimpong 17, Cooch Behar 55, Purulia 32, Jhargram 13 and Bankura 80.
