COVID-19: Seven more tested positive in Karnataka, total at 62

Bengaluru/UNI:  Karnataka on Friday confirmed seven more cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the total number of positive patients to 62 in the state.

The cases included a 10-month-old baby, who has now become the second youngest coronavirus infected patient in the country and youngest in the state of Karnataka. The youngest patient, an 8-month-old baby was tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Health department's mid-day bulletin, Karnataka has so far witnessed three coronavirus related deaths and five persons have been discharged.

The 10-month-old baby , who was tested positive today, had no travel history to any of the COVID-19 affected countries. Officials revealed that the family members had taken the baby to Kerala and six primary contacts have been established and put under home quarantine.

Apart from this, a 20-year-old male who returned from Colombo, a 25-year-old female who returned from London have been tested positive. Further, a 35-year-old female and 33-year-old female said to be the primary contacts of P25 (House Maid) have also been tested positive, according to the officials.

Besides, a 60-year-old male who returned to Sira in Tumakuru by train from New Delhi and died on Friday morning has also been tested positive. His primary contacts, including health care professionals have been put under house quarantine.

According to officials a 22-year-old male from Uttara Kannada with travel history to Dubai has also been tested positive.

All the patients are being treated at designated isolation hospitals in Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Uttara Kannada.
