Coronavirus: One death, 20 new cases and all-time low infection rate in Delhi

New Delhi/UNI: The four-day streak of no death in Delhi was broken as the national capital recorded one death and 20 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours even as the positivity rate fell to an all-time low, according to the Delhi government's health bulletin shared on Monday.

The positivity rate fell to 0.04 per cent as the city conducted 51,387 tests in the last 24 hours, according to data shared by the city health department.

Meanwhile, 36 people recovered from the viral illness in the last 24 hours and around 88 individuals remain in home isolation, the data showed.

The latest addition has pushed the cumulative case tally to 14,37,736 while the death toll is maintained at 25,081, government data showed.

For the past week, the single-day case tally has not exceeded 50. However, the streak of zero deaths for four consecutive days was broken on Monday.

The capital city has recorded 19 instances since the second wave of the pandemic hit the national capital that no deaths were reported in a day.

The official data states that On July 18, July 24, July 29, August 2, August 4, August 8, August 11, August 12, August 13, August 16, August 20, August 21, August 22, August 23 and August 24, August 26, August 27, August 28 and August 29 too, no death due to Covid-19 was recorded.

Prior to the second wave, the national capital had recorded zero death on March 2 this year. On that day, the number of single-day infections stood at 217 and the positivity rate was 0.33 per cent.

The second wave swept the city during the April-May period.
