Aurangabad/UNI: Amid the spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, the Centre has instructed all the state governments to impose night curfew and other restrictions in the districts concerned where the rate of infection increases to more than 10 per cent.

In this regard Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, in his letter to the all chief secretaries of all the states, directed them to keep an eye on the situation and said that if new Covid patients are found at the district level, alternatives like demarcation of restricted areas should be considered.

The letter further said that if the infection rate rises in a district, it should be closely monitored and prepared for segregation at the local level.

The letter also instructed to limit the number of weddings and funerals in areas where the infection rate is high.

Meanwhile, so far 17 Omicron cases were spotted in Maharashtra which includes both in Pune and Mumbai.

The state government has taken a number of preventive measures in this regard.
