Bangladesh records over 3,800 new COVID-19 cases, 43 more deaths

Dhaka/Xinhua: With over 3,800 new cases being reported, Bangladesh's COVID-19 cases rose to nearly 138,000 on Sunday and deaths from the virus increased to 1,738.

Senior Health Ministry official Nasima Sultana said in a briefing Sunday afternoon that "3,809 new COVID-19 positive cases and 43 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh."

"The number of confirmed infections in the country totaled 137,787 while fatalities stood at 1,738," she said.

According to the official, 18,099 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in labs across the country.

She said the total number of recovered patients in the country stands at 55,727 with 1,409 new recoveries.
