Guwahati, July 19 (IBNS): After the only bamboo bridge was washed away by the flood waters, the villagers of Jogipara area in Assam’s Darrang district have been forced to cross a river with the help of a rope by taking risk their lives.

The devastating flood waters of Kulshi river washed away the bamboo bridge connecting Jogipara and Naharbari.

Following the incident, the villagers of these two villages have been forced to cross the river with the help of a rope to collect food items, medicine etc by taking risk their lives.

A local youth of Jogipara village said that, the bamboo bridge was the only arrangement to connect two villages, but the bridge was washed away by the flood waters and the villagers are facing lot of problems.

“The flood waters have submerged the entire Naharbari and Jogipara area. The villagers have made the bamboo bridge every year, but it was washed away by the flood waters. The villagers have also faced food crisis. So I and some other youths have used the rope tied with body to cross the river for delivering food items, medicines etc to the villagers,” a local youth said.
