Assam registers 15 new COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 79

Guwahati/IBNS: As many as 15 new positive cases for COVID-19 have been reported in Assam on Wednesday.

With the new cases, the state tally is now increased to 79.

All 15 cases have been reported from Kamrup (Metro) district.

Confirming the report, Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, all new cases are related to a patient of Fancy Bazar area in Guwahati and they are now under quarantine.

He tweeted: “15 persons are tested #COVID19 + in Kamrup Metro. All are related to patient from Guwahati’s Fancy Bazaar, who tested + recently. All under quarantine and please don’t panic. Total cases 79.”

Out of 79 cases, two patients died and 39 others were discharged from hospitals.

The state has now 37 active cases of the contagion.
